A Thayer Hotel Wedding. West Point, NY.
In the storied halls of the Thayer Hotel at West Point, NY, Kristina and Mike found warmth and grandeur on a day where rain painted the world outside with its silvery sheen. Despite the chill and drizzle that carried on from morning to afternoon, the love and joy inside the hotel remained undiminished, even as nature wept with happiness for the couple’s union.
The historic Eisenhower Room provided a majestic sanctuary for the couple’s ceremony. Its walls, rich with the echoes of past glories, added a touch of time-honored tradition to the nuptials, while the soft lighting and intimate setting made for a poignant exchange of vows, unfazed by the weather’s melancholy.
Fortune favored the brave, and as if on cue, the rain paused, granting us a brief sojourn at Trophy Point. The iconic location, overlooking the Hudson River, served as a dramatic backdrop for portraits, capturing a momentary break in the clouds, the elements aligning to honor Kristina and Mike’s love.
Back within the Thayer Hotel, the cocktail hour boasted an abundance of food, with culinary offerings that promised and delivered comfort and delight. Guests mingled amidst the opulence, their spirits high, indulging in the diverse and delectable treats.
As the evening progressed, conversations flowed as smoothly as the wine. Laughter echoed through the halls, rivaling the energy of the high-spirited dancing that followed. The dance floor became an arena of celebration, where friends and family reveled in the happiness of Kristina and Mike’s new beginning.
Kristina and Mike’s wedding at the Thayer Hotel stood as a testament to the power of love to bring light and warmth, turning a cold, rainy day into an occasion filled with joy, energy, and celebration.

What drew you to the venue and what was your favorite detail?
We both grew up in the Hudson Valley and were always drawn to the river. We often hiked around the Hudson in the beginning of our relationship. We knew once we saw the Thayer’s backdrop, we wanted to get married there.
What was your favorite moment from your wedding?
We have so many! One favorite is going to Trophy Point. It was pretty magical seeing the Hudson in the fog and the rain.
What was the most special thing you experienced at your wedding?
The most special moment for both of us was having our best friend, Sam, perform our ceremony and marry us. All three of us met at the same time, and we’ve all see each other grow. It was really special to have him included in our day.
What was the best piece of advice you got before your wedding?
One thing that was repeatedly told to us was to just let the day unfold however it may. No matter what happened, it still would be a special day!
How would you describe your wedding day?
Fun!
What guest had the most fun at your wedding?
We’d like to say we all did. Specifically, though, our good friends Danielle and Noah were dancing the night away.
What was the biggest reason you chose Tom Harmon Photography to capture your big day?
We loved the vibe of Tom’s portfolio- moody but modern, almost. We also were just excited to find a local photographer willing to do most things outside! Supporting someone who is from the area, and who loves the things we do was important to us.
