Katelyn and Hunter kept their ceremony intimate. Just close family on the porch at Mountainvaille Manor, and it hit different. They read their vows in front of the people who mattered most, and you could feel the weight of it. Then we drove up to the old train trestle for some portraits that felt like stepping into their own story, before heading back to celebrate with dancing, cigars, and speeches that had everyone leaning in.
The day started with the kind of fall energy that makes Mountainville perfect for a wedding, clean light, crisp air, and that historic manor sitting like it’s been waiting for exactly this moment. Katelyn and Hunter got ready separately, then met on the porch with just their closest family circled around them. There’s something about keeping a ceremony small and intentional that changes the whole energy. The vows were genuine and emotional, not performative. No big audience to play to, just them, their people, and us capturing the realness of it. After the ceremony, we made the drive up to the train trestle. Those kinds of locations can feel cheesy if they’re not done right, but the way the light was hitting, the way they moved together, it felt earned. Those portraits became some of our favorites from the day.
Back at Mountainvaille Manor, cocktail hour flowed into emotional speeches that set the tone for the rest of the night. People actually said what they meant instead of working through a checklist. Then the ballroom opened up and the dancing started, real dancing, the kind where people actually have fun instead of just hitting their marks. Some guests filtered outside to smoke cigars and hang, which is honest to how these nights actually go. The energy was cozy and warm, the kind of celebration that feels earned after vows like theirs.
Whites and blues threaded through the day in a way that felt clean and seasonal without trying too hard. Wild Blooms Bridal handled the florals with the kind of restraint that matches a historic space, no competing with the bones of the building, just complementing them. The dress was simple and elegant, the cake from My Daughter’s Cakes looked like something people actually wanted to eat, and RB Artistry’s makeup meant Katelyn looked like herself, just polished. The ballroom at Mountainvaille Manor has those exposed beams and historic details that need almost nothing to feel special, and that’s exactly what this wedding understood.
